Duane Elgin, Wharton MBA and MA is an internationally recognized author, speaker and trans-partisan media activist. His books include: “Voluntary Simplicity,” “The Living Universe,” “Promise Ahead,” and “Awakening Earth.” He has done studies on the long-range future since the early 1970s while working as a social scientist on a Presidential Commission on the American Future. That was followed by diverse studies of the long-range future at the think-tank, SRI International. In the 1980s, he was a media activist and community organizer, focusing primarily on the San Francisco Bay Area. Duane is the co-founder of three trans-partisan organizations working to use the new social media to give citizens a greater voice in the future. He received the Peace Prize of Japan, the Goi Award in Tokyo in 2006, in recognition of his contribution to a global “vision, consciousness, and lifestyle” that fosters a “more sustainable and spiritual culture.” His current work involves bringing together more than a dozen "Great Transition Stories" that offer new ways of understanding our time of profound global change.
